Safeguarding statement
Our aim is to meet the requirements of ensuring a safe environment for those accessing our services and to build an open culture where:
- Those who lead do so by example
- We are committed to the safeguarding of all
- Our team members are safely recruited and trained for their roles
- There are accountability structures with codes of conduct
- Kidscape values are embedded in the day-to-day actions and behaviours of its people
- We encourage open communication

We believe that:

Children and adults should never experience abuse of any kind

We have a responsibility to promote the welfare of all participants in our programmes and to keep them safe.
We will keep you safe by:

Doing all we can to create an environment that feels safe

Helping you know in advance what to expect from a Kidscape workshop. Our staff and volunteers will clearly explain what we are going to do and why

Encouraging you to only do what feels right and safe for you (we will not make you take part in any activity)

Respecting difference and doing what we can to help you participate

Recruiting staff and volunteers who are kind and caring

Making sure you know who our staff and volunteers are (for example they will be wearing a t-shirt or a lanyard)

Letting you know who to contact if you have any worries or concerns – either during an activity, or afterwards

Listening to your feedback
You will help keep others safe by:

Not using language that is rude or offensive

Following the instructions of the Kidscape staff team

Letting us know if something has worried or upset you. No matter how small, you can tell us.
Everyone who works or volunteers for Kidscape is given a copy of the Kidscape Safeguarding Policy. This gives details of how we keep children safe, and the code of conduct we expect all our staff and volunteers to follow.
If a child is at immediate risk of harm, or has been harmed, contact 999. If you have a safeguarding concern - no matter how small, you can tell us. Please contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead: safeguarding@kidscape.org.uk.
